According to the latest report from the Public Authority for Civil Information, Kuwait’s total population reached 4,987,826 by the end of 2024. Of this number, 1,567,983 were Kuwaiti citizens (31%), while 3,419,843 were non-Kuwaitis (69%).
Among Kuwaiti citizens, women slightly outnumber men, with 794,923 women (51%) compared to 773,060 men (49%). As in previous years, the Indian community remains the largest expatriate group in Kuwait. Indians represent:
- 64% of the Kuwaiti citizen-equivalent population (used for statistical comparison),
- 29% of the total expatriate population, and
- 20% of the overall population.
They are followed by the Egyptian community, which makes up:
- 42% of the citizen-equivalent population,
- 19% of expatriates, and
- 13% of Kuwait’s total population.
Together, Indian and Egyptian nationals constitute 38% of all expatriates, 106% compared to the citizen population, and 33% of Kuwait’s total population.
The most common jobs held by non-Kuwaitis include:
Housemaids, private car drivers, market vendors, general laborers, janitors, light truck drivers, messengers/passport representatives, building and residential cleaners, waiters, and warehouse workers handling goods.
