The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition recently carried out a surprise inspection campaign targeting several food establishments to safeguard public health and ensure food safety. During this operation, inspectors seized 34 carcasses unfit for human consumption, weighing nearly 320 kilograms, at a food outlet in the Al-Mirqab area. The inspection was part of the intensified monitoring campaigns led by the Mubarakiya Food Inspection Center.
According to the inspection report, the confiscated meat was in a severely deteriorated condition. Tests revealed clear signs of spoilage, including abnormal changes in color, odor, and texture. Inspectors noted the presence of a greenish discoloration, foul smells, and visible fungal growth, confirming that the carcasses were no longer safe for consumption.
The inspection team, headed by Mohammed Ahmed Al-Kandari, along with inspectors Ali Abdullah Al-Salem, Khaled Abdullah Al-Ustadh, and Abdullah Mahmoud Talib, stated that the establishment attempted to commit commercial fraud. The operators reportedly removed expiration dates and food data cards from the displayed meat in an effort to deceive customers and pass off spoiled products as fresh and healthy.
Officials stressed that such practices are a serious violation of health regulations and represent a direct threat to community health. As a result, legal measures have been initiated against the violating facility, including its closure, issuing a formal violation report, destroying the spoiled food, and referring those responsible to the competent authorities for investigation and penalties.
The Public Authority also urged the public to report any food safety violations or suspicious practices. Authorities confirmed that random inspection campaigns will continue to ensure that all food establishments comply with health standards and to protect consumers from any threats to their safety.
