Cupertino, California – Apple is reportedly working on a groundbreaking smart robot designed to function as a virtual assistant, with a planned launch window around 2027. The move signals the company’s ambition to deliver an interactive experience that goes beyond the capabilities of its existing devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
A Desktop Companion with a Moving Display
According to a Bloomberg report, the prototype takes the form of a compact desktop robot featuring a 7-inch display—comparable to a small iPad—that can rotate and extend up to six inches in any direction. This mechanical movement would allow the device to automatically orient itself toward the user during interactions, creating a more natural and personal experience.
Powered by Next-Generation Siri and AI
The robot is expected to integrate an advanced, AI-enhanced version of Siri, enabling it to store personal information, engage in fluid conversations, and assist with everyday planning. Its capabilities may include recommending restaurants, arranging travel plans, and organizing daily schedules—functions reminiscent of conversational AI platforms like OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
FaceTime calls are also expected to be a major feature, with a tracking system similar to Center Stage, allowing users to move freely while staying perfectly framed on the screen.
