MEW Reports Over 86% Freshwater Consumption in Residential Sectors
KUWAIT CITY: The Kuwaiti Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy (MEW) has released a breakdown of freshwater consumption in residential sectors. The data reveals that Kuwaiti consumers account for 86.04% of total freshwater usage.

The remaining breakdown of residential users includes:
- Investment Housing: 7.60%
- Commercial Housing: 4.35%
- Other Housing (livestock pens & chalets): 1.11%
- Industrial Housing: 0.41%
- Agricultural Housing: 0.32%
- Government Sector: 0.17%
In a separate statement, MEWRE highlighted its national freshwater production capacity. The ministry currently operates distillation stations with a combined daily output of 682 million imperial gallons. These stations utilize individual units ranging from 5 million to 15 million gallons per day.
Additionally, MEW announced the successful restoration of power in Salmiya blocks 5 and 6. A brief outage occurred yesterday morning due to a malfunction in the main substation. Emergency teams promptly addressed the issue, and power was fully restored, reported Arab Times.
