The Communications and Information Technology Regulatory Authority (CITRA) has officially announced the blocking of the popular online game Roblox in Kuwait. The decision was made under CITRA’s legal authority to protect users—particularly children—from online risks.
Reasons for the Ban
According to CITRA, the move comes after numerous complaints from parents and authorities highlighting the dangers of the platform. These include:
- Exposure to unsafe practices
- Risks of electronic exploitation
- Promotion of harmful behavior
- Inappropriate content unsuitable for children
- Unsafe purchasing practices within the game
Temporary Measure
CITRA clarified that the ban is temporary. It will remain in place while negotiations are underway with the Roblox operating company. The company is required to ensure:
- Removal of offensive or harmful content
- Implementation of stricter child protection measures
- Compliance with Kuwait’s digital safety standards
Once Roblox meets these requirements, authorities will reconsider lifting the ban.
