The Ministry of Commerce and Industry confirmed on Tuesday that its Commercial Control and Consumer Protection Department is continuing intensive inspection tours across markets as students prepare to return to school.

Faisal Al-Ansari, Director of the Commercial Control Department, stated that inspection teams are concentrating their efforts on monitoring school supply prices and verifying invoices to ensure that increased seasonal demand is not exploited by retailers.

“These tours aim to guarantee that stationery and office supplies stores comply with laws, decisions, and regulations designed to protect consumers,” Al-Ansari explained.

The inspection campaigns are being carried out across all governorates, including both main and sub-markets, to ensure the availability of goods in sufficient quantities and of the required quality.

Al-Ansari emphasized that inspection teams are closely monitoring for illegal practices or attempts to impose artificial price hikes, with legal action to be taken against violators.

He stressed that the ministry will not tolerate unjustified price increases or breaches of market regulations, underlining that the ultimate goal is to safeguard consumers and ensure school supplies remain accessible at fair prices.
