The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of two suspects, a Syrian and an Indian national, after they were caught turning a rented house in Mishref into an illegal site for producing and selling counterfeit food items.

Investigations revealed that the men had been mixing oils with various substances, repackaging them, and marketing the products as locally produced ghee. They also altered product origins, promoting them as imported, and sold other consumer goods through unlawful methods.

The operation was carried out in coordination with the Public Authority for Food and Nutrition, Kuwait Municipality, and other relevant authorities. The house and all counterfeit items were seized, and the suspects were referred to the proper authorities for legal action.

The Public Authority for Food and Nutrition reported several violations, including:

Operating a food facility without the required approval or health license.

Failing to maintain sanitary conditions and follow hygiene standards.

Refilling food items without a valid refilling license.

Kuwait Municipality also issued a violation for using the property for purposes other than its licensed activity.

The Ministry of Interior emphasized that this action is part of ongoing efforts to protect consumer health and safety, prevent food fraud, and crack down on illegal practices. The Ministry praised the strong cooperation between regulatory agencies, highlighting its importance in strengthening Kuwait’s food safety and security systems.
