Kuwait City | September 21, 2025 – The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) Kuwait has issued Decision No. 169 of 2025, introducing new regulations on the import, sale, and distribution of gas cylinders and accessories. The resolution was officially published in the Official Gazette Kuwait Today.
Kuwait Bans Local Sale of Gas Cylinders and Accessories
According to the decision, the local circulation of gas cylinders, regulators, hoses, and related accessories is now prohibited unless imported by the Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC) or the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC).
This move is part of a broader effort to tighten safety measures and regulate the gas supply chain in Kuwait.
KNPC to Oversee Gas Cylinder Distribution in Kuwait
The resolution also transfers responsibilities from the Kuwait Oil Tanker Company to the Kuwait National Petroleum Company. Once executive and legal procedures are complete, KNPC will manage gas cylinder filling factories and oversee distribution nationwide.
Official Gazette Kuwait Publishes Decision No. 169 of 2025
The Ministry confirmed that this decision is effective immediately. Previous regulations, including Resolution No. 33 of 1986 and Resolution No. 83 of 2003, will remain valid except where amended by the latest ruling.
Purpose of the Gas Cylinder Ban in Kuwait
The Ministry of Commerce stated that the updated law is designed to:
- Improve safety standards for gas cylinders in Kuwait
- Prevent unauthorized or illegal trading of gas accessories
- Ensure secure and reliable gas distribution across the country
