Kuwait City – The Ministry of Health has confirmed a sharp increase in alcohol poisoning incidents across the country, reporting a total of 160 infections and 23 deaths as of Thursday.

According to the Ministry, most of the affected individuals are currently receiving treatment in intensive care units at various Kuwaiti hospitals. Many cases have required ventilator support and emergency kidney dialysis due to severe complications. All the victims were identified as being of Asian nationalities.

Coordinated Response and Medical Care

The Ministry of Health emphasized that it is working around the clock in coordination with the Kuwait Poison Control Center, security authorities, and other relevant agencies to monitor cases and ensure the highest level of medical intervention.

Health officials stressed that immediate action is being taken to track, treat, and manage every reported case. The Ministry reiterated its commitment to strengthening safety measures and enforcing strict controls to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Public Warning and Safety Advisory

In its statement, the Ministry urged the public to refrain from engaging in activities that could endanger their health, stressing the lethal risks of consuming unregulated or illegal alcohol.

Citizens and residents are encouraged to immediately report suspected cases of poisoning through the Ministry’s 24-hour emergency hotlines or via officially approved communication channels. Authorities emphasized that swift reporting can make a critical difference in saving lives.

Ongoing Investigation

Security and health agencies are jointly investigating the source of the toxic alcohol. Officials have not yet disclosed whether the incidents are linked to a single supplier or multiple sources, but inspections and enforcement actions are underway.

The Ministry closed its statement with a strong reminder: “Protecting lives is a shared responsibility. We urge everyone to remain vigilant and cooperate fully with health and security authorities.”
