Israel has launched a strike in Qatar’s capital, Doha, targeting senior Hamas leaders. A Hamas official confirmed that members of the group’s negotiating team, which has not engaged in indirect talks with Israel since July, were among those struck.
The Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong condemnation, describing the attack as a “blatant violation of international law” and warning that Qatar “will not tolerate this reckless Israeli behavior or the continued undermining of regional security.”
In an official statement, a ministry spokesperson said:
“The State of Qatar strongly condemns the cowardly Israeli assault that targeted residential buildings housing members of Hamas’ Political Bureau in Doha. This criminal act constitutes a grave breach of international laws and norms, and poses a direct threat to the security and safety of citizens and residents in Qatar.”
The spokesperson added that security forces, civil defense, and other relevant authorities acted immediately to contain the situation and safeguard nearby residents.
Qatar emphasized that it views the strike as an unacceptable violation of its sovereignty. Investigations are underway at the highest level, and further details will be announced once available.
