Google Maps is still the top choice for millions of Android users, but a recent update has upset many people. In the latest beta versions (v25.28 and v25.29), Google removed the music control feature from the navigation screen, making it harder and less safe for drivers to change songs or podcasts.
Before the update, users could easily play, pause, or skip songs at the bottom of the map screen while driving. This feature worked with apps like YouTube Music and Spotify, helping users stay focused on the road. It could be turned on in Settings by going to: Navigation > Show media controls.Stay updated on Kuwait’s latest news and job openings by following our WhatsApp channel!https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaCkXo25q08jnKrRwo27
Now, with the feature gone, drivers have to leave the map to control music, which can be distracting and even dangerous. Many users are upset, saying that this was not just a convenience but an important safety feature.
So far, Google hasn’t said if this change was on purpose or just a mistake. Interestingly, the music control feature still works on Google Maps for iPhones, so there’s hope it may come back to Android in future updates.
