Kuwait City: The Kuwaiti automotive sector recorded strong growth in 2025, with new car sales rising by 16.4 percent in the first nine months compared to the same period in 2024, according to statistics published by Al-Rai.
During this period, 108,720 new vehicles were sold — an average of 12,081 cars per month, up from 93,380 cars last year. The growth covered over 102 major and luxury brands operating in the local market.
Sales of major brands climbed 19.6 percent to 95,890 vehicles, while luxury brand sales reached around 10,000 units. September recorded the highest sales with 14,220 vehicles, followed by August (13,580) and April (13,380). January saw the lowest at 9,320 units.
SUVs and mid-size vehicles dominated Kuwait’s car market, accounting for 65.7 percent of total sales — a 21.5 percent year-on-year increase, reaching 71,460 units.
Among brands, Japanese cars led with 44,624 units sold, representing 41 percent of Kuwait’s market share. Chinese cars followed with 30,020 units (27.6 percent share), marking a 35.3 percent increase. American brands ranked third with 14,300 cars (13.2 percent share), followed by Korean (9,763) and German (5,299) vehicles.
This continued growth reflects Kuwait’s strong consumer demand, particularly for SUVs and affordable mid-size models, reinforcing the country’s position as one of the Gulf’s most dynamic automotive markets.
