KUWAIT CITY, May 2025 – In response to rising temperatures and increased energy demand, Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity, Water, and Renewable Energy reported the import of 599,151 megawatts (MW) of electricity from the Gulf Interconnection Network (GIG) during the month of April.
According to a recent report issued by the Statistics Department, the early start of electricity imports was driven by unseasonably high temperatures and the temporary shutdown of several power production units for maintenance. The imports are part of the ministry’s ongoing strategy to stabilize the national grid and ensure reliable service during the summer season.
The report noted that April 26 recorded the highest electrical load of the month at 13,150 MW, while the lowest load was recorded at 7,460 MW on April 1 and April 18.Stay updated on Kuwait’s latest news and job openings by following our WhatsApp channel!https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaCkXo25q08jnKrRwo27
