Kuwait City:As part of the Ministry of Interior’s ongoing efforts to monitor social media content and address the spread of misinformation, the Criminal Security Sector — represented by the Capital Governorate Investigations Department — has arrested an individual for posting a misleading video clip online.
The video in question showed a woman attempting to open the door of a parked vehicle in one of the areas within the Capital Governorate. Following the circulation of the clip, the Rawdah Investigations Department launched an immediate inquiry.
During questioning, the driver of the vehicle confirmed that the incident had occurred but stated that he did not know the woman. A review of nearby surveillance footage revealed that the woman had mistakenly tried to enter the vehicle, believing it belonged to one of her acquaintances. Authorities also identified the person who later arrived to take her from the location.
Investigations further determined that the video’s publisher had deliberately shared the clip with false information, misleading viewers in an attempt to gain personal attention and increase social media engagement. The individual was subsequently arrested, and legal measures were taken before referring the case to the competent authorities.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its call for the public to report any suspicious or inappropriate behavior directly to the relevant authorities instead of posting such incidents on social media. The Ministry also emphasized the importance of verifying information with official sources before publishing or sharing it, warning that spreading unverified or misleading content constitutes a legal violation subject to accountability.
