Minister of Health: Advancing Healthcare by Adopting the Latest AI and Digital Medicine Technologies

KUWAIT CITY, April 26 — Minister of Health Dr. Ahmad Al-Awadhi reaffirmed the vital role of internal medicine doctors, describing them as “the cornerstone of the healthcare system in Kuwait.” His remarks came during the opening ceremony of the First Conference of the Kuwait Association of Internal Medicine, held last Friday.

Dr. Al-Awadhi emphasized that the conference is more than just a scientific gathering; it serves as a powerful message of unity and solidarity among internal medicine professionals. It brought together some of Kuwait’s most distinguished medical minds, representing hospitals and specialized associations from across the country.

“Internal medicine is not merely a medical specialty,” Dr. Al-Awadhi explained, “it is the beating heart of clinical practice—combining diagnostic artistry, precision treatment, and a holistic vision that connects various medical specialties to deliver comprehensive care to patients.”

He highlighted the pivotal role internal medicine physicians have historically played as the first line of defense in confronting health challenges. Their responsibilities extend beyond diagnosis and treatment to encompass prevention, research, education, and innovation.

Dr. Al-Awadhi noted that the conference reflects an ambitious vision for the future of internal medicine in Kuwait — one that prioritizes unifying efforts, strengthening integration, and building a robust network of cooperation among hospitals and specialized associations.

In line with this vision, the Ministry of Health is actively developing a comprehensive strategic plan aimed at supporting internal medicine professionals and their subspecialties. This strategy focuses on:

  • Enhancing the medical work environment with state-of-the-art equipment and technologies
  • Supporting medical personnel to foster creativity and professional excellence
  • Launching advanced training programs both domestically and abroad to ensure continuous skill development and alignment with global best practices

Dr. Al-Awadhi further stated that preventative healthcare would be a key pillar of this vision, including the activation of specialized clinics for chronic diseases and expanding community awareness initiatives to reduce the burden on healthcare facilities.Stay updated on Kuwait’s latest news and job openings by following our WhatsApp channel!https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaCkXo25q08jnKrRwo27

In addition, he emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to promoting scientific research and clinical trials, encouraging doctors to engage in innovation that would elevate Kuwait’s standing in internal medicine research and practice globally.

He also outlined the Ministry’s drive to integrate the latest artificial intelligence (AI) and digital medicine technologies to enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities, ensuring greater precision, efficiency, and effectiveness across the healthcare system.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Abdullah Al-Othman, head of the conference organizing committee, highlighted that the conference was born from the association’s belief that sustainable development in healthcare relies on strong partnerships. He stressed that today’s health challenges demand effective coordination, knowledge exchange, and a unified scientific approach grounded in evidence-based best practices.

Dr. Al-Othman added that the conference represents not merely a scientific meeting, but a true platform for fostering teamwork, sharing expertise, and uniting internal medicine departments across Kuwait’s hospitals to raise the quality of healthcare services delivered to patients.
