Kuwait City:The Ministry of Education has begun implementing precautionary measures in preparation for the upcoming rainy season, focusing on ensuring the safety and readiness of school facilities across the country.

According to an engineering source, the ministry has instructed schools to carry out extensive cleaning of roofs and drainage systems, ensuring that manholes are clear and fully functional. Debris, weeds, and waste that could cause water accumulation or obstruct drainage networks are being removed as part of these preventive steps.

The source revealed to Al-Rai that coordination is ongoing between the General Administration of Educational Facilities and Projects and the Education Affairs Sector to monitor school conditions. Field visits are being conducted to evaluate the structural safety of school buildings and confirm the proper implementation of precautionary measures.

Among the key actions undertaken annually during this period, the ministry has directed schools to clean rainwater drainage manholes and install metal mesh under their covers to prevent waste from entering. Schools have also been instructed to move and cover furniture and equipment in areas prone to leaks, ensuring compliance with safety and security standards.

The source added that the ministry is currently executing a plan to repair insulation in certain schools as part of its summer maintenance program. However, the number of schools included in the insulation repair plan is limited due to the complexity of the process, which involves removing air conditioning units from roofs, installing new insulation, and reinstalling the units afterward.

The Ministry of Education emphasized that these proactive measures aim to guarantee the safety of students, teachers, and administrative staff throughout the rainy season.
