The Ministry of Interior, through its General Directorate of Residency Affairs, continues to regularly update the lists of approved countries and professions eligible for entry into Kuwait. These revisions, based on global indicators and security considerations, aim to streamline and expand opportunities for expatriates seeking to visit Kuwait on tourist, business, and family visas.

Colonel Abdulaziz Al-Kandari, Director of the Electronic Services Department at the General Directorate of Residency Affairs, provided detailed insights in a recent statement to Kuwait TV. He emphasized that no specific nationality is banned from entering Kuwait, provided the visitors meet the required conditions. This marks a significant shift from earlier policies that imposed nationality-based restrictions.

One of the key changes in the new visa system is the removal of the “national carrier” requirement. Visitors can now choose their preferred mode of travel—whether by air, land, or sea—offering greater flexibility and convenience. Additionally, the previously mandatory salary threshold for family visit visas has been eliminated. Family visit applications can now include relatives up to the fourth degree, and the third degree by marriage. Tourist visas are currently available across four main categories.

Regarding security protocols, Al-Kandari explained that visas can be obtained electronically through the newly launched “Kuwait Visa” platform or upon arrival at entry points such as airports. Those arriving from approved countries will undergo security screenings, and any individuals failing to meet security criteria will be denied entry and returned to their country of origin.

The Ministry advises all prospective visitors to secure their visas via the official “Kuwait Visa” platform to prevent financial loss and avoid travel disruptions. This platform reflects the Ministry’s commitment to leveraging technology to facilitate smoother visa processing and enhance visitor experience.

This initiative aligns with directives from Acting Prime Minister Sheikh Fahd Al-Yousef, who ordered a comprehensive review of the visa system in line with the strategic vision of Kuwait’s political leadership. The project is overseen by Major General Ali Al-Adwani, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, underscoring the government’s dedication to maintaining both security and accessibility.
