Operation Turtle Kuwait:This Saturday morning, many volunteers gathered at Shuwaikh Beach for the yearly “Operation Turtle” cleanup. The event was organized by the Environment Protection Society and the Japanese Society in Kuwait, with support from the Environment Public Authority and Kuwait Municipality. People of all ages took part to help protect Kuwait’s beaches and sea life.
Friendship and Cooperation
The Japanese Ambassador to Kuwait, Kenichiro Mukai, said he was happy to join the event. He explained that “Operation Turtle” shows the strong friendship between Japan and Kuwait. He added, “When we work together to care for nature, we give hope that turtles will return to these beaches again.”
Support from Kuwait Municipality
Maysaa Boushehri, Deputy Director of the Municipality Projects Sector, said the Shuwaikh Beach project is a good example of teamwork between government agencies. She mentioned that the municipality is working hard to make Kuwait more beautiful and sustainable.
She also said that taking part in Operation Turtle helps raise awareness about protecting the environment and encourages people to volunteer for a good cause.
Protecting Marine Life
Sharifa Al-Salem, from the Environment Public Authority, said the campaign is not just about cleaning beaches, but also about protecting sea creatures that are in danger because of pollution and plastic waste.
She said, “We all have a duty to protect nature and keep our beaches safe for future generations.”
A Message of Awareness
Dr. Wajdan Al-Aqab, head of the Environment Protection Society, said the goal of Operation Turtle is to teach people about the importance of keeping Kuwait’s coasts clean. She explained that waste and plastic thrown into the sea can seriously harm turtles and other marine animals.
The event ended with smiles, teamwork, and a shared hope for a cleaner and greener Kuwait.
