Over 2.6 Million Cars and Motorcycles Operate in Kuwait by End of 2024

Kuwait City, Oct 28:
Official data from the Central Statistical Bureau revealed that the total number of cars and motorcycles operating in Kuwait reached 2.609 million by the end of 2024, marking a year-on-year increase of 86,388 vehicles compared to 2.522 million in 2023.

According to the report, private cars make up the majority of vehicles on Kuwait’s roads, representing 80.65% of the total. Their number rose to 2.104 million, compared to 2.028 million in 2023—an annual increase of 75,848 vehicles.

The data also showed that the number of private motorcycles reached 49,591, up from 47,623 the previous year, reflecting an increase of 1,968 motorcycles.

By the end of 2024, Kuwait recorded the following vehicle categories:

  • 535 licensed taxis
  • 4,938 on-demand taxis
  • 9,342 roaming taxis
  • 322,131 private transport vehicles
  • 38,293 public transport vehicles

🚦Driving Test Results for 2024

In 2024, a total of 114,623 applicants sat for the theoretical driving test across all governorates. Among them, 100,050 passed, while 14,573 failed.

For the practical driving test, 144,457 applicants participated, with 93,312 passing and 51,145 failing, according to the Bureau’s data.

🪪 Nearly 93,000 New Driving Licenses Issued

The report added that 92,976 driving licenses were issued in 2024, including:

  • 83,085 special licenses
  • 6,286 general licenses
  • 2,931 motorcycle licenses
  • 674 construction vehicle licenses
