Kuwait City, October 31, 2025 — The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has announced that the Istisqa’ prayer (prayer for rain) will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM in 125 mosques across all governorates.

In a circular issued by Dr. M. Suleiman Saleh Al-Suwailem, Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry, it was stated that the Istisqa’ prayer is a recommended act in Islam, performed to seek rain from God Almighty.

The Ministry has instructed imams and muezzins to invite worshippers to attend the designated mosques and to deliver sermons encouraging repentance, humility, and turning to God.

Dr. Al-Suwailem quoted an authentic narration, saying:

“It is established on the authority of Abdullah bin Zaid (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) went out to the prayer place, faced the Qibla, turned his cloak inside out, and prayed two rak’ahs,”
a narration reported by Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

The Ministry confirmed that the prayer will take place on 17 Jumada Al-Ula 1447 AH, corresponding to November 8, 2025, across all designated mosques in the country.

Officials emphasized the importance of the event, calling upon the faithful to join in prayer, repent sincerely, and seek mercy and rain from God Almighty, highlighting the spiritual and communal significance of the Istisqa’ prayer.
