RTA Reviews Gulf Railway Route Design as Part of Project Launch Preparations

In line with the directives of the Minister of Public Works, Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has reviewed the detailed design for the Gulf Railway route, taking a significant step toward the launch of the ambitious regional project.

The Director General of the General Authority for Roads and Land Transport, Eng. Khaled Al-Osaimi, held a meeting with representatives of the International Consulting Office in Turkey—the acting contractor under the consulting agreement for the railway project. The meeting focused on tracking progress in the study, finalizing detailed designs, and preparing tender documents for the first phase of the project.

Technical aspects of the proposed route were thoroughly discussed, as part of the consulting agreement, which covers the complete preparation of detailed studies and engineering designs. The first phase of the railway, covering 111 kilometers, is a core component of the broader Gulf Railway Network that aims to enhance regional connectivity.

Eng. Al-Osaimi emphasized the importance of adhering to the project timeline and confirmed the Authority’s commitment to resolving any challenges through direct coordination with relevant government bodies. He also announced plans to convene a coordination meeting with stakeholders in the near future to accelerate procedural steps and ensure a smooth and efficient implementation of the project.
