KUnion of Cooperatives Kuwait:The head of the Union of Consumer Cooperative Societies, Maryam Al-Awad, confirmed that the Union is actively monitoring the availability of eggs in local markets to maintain price stability and protect consumers from any unjustified price hikes, especially as the holy month of Ramadan approaches.
Al-Awad explained that the Union had issued an official circular (Letter No. 2025/248) dated September 25, 2025, to all cooperative societies, requesting updates on egg availability and related data. She praised Acting Director General Faisal Al-Mutairi for his initiative in addressing the matter and seeking practical solutions.
She noted that several cooperatives have already responded to the Union’s request, while some have yet to do so, urging all societies to respond promptly to help compile accurate statistics reflecting the actual market situation.
Al-Awad also stated that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been notified to take necessary actions, and coordination continues between the Union and the supplying companies to ensure a steady flow of eggs in the markets and price stability in the coming weeks.
She reaffirmed that the Union remains committed to its supervisory role, emphasizing its dedication to curbing artificial price increases, safeguarding consumer interests, and maintaining market stability.
