WhatsApp Tests New Sign-Out Feature Without Data Loss

Meta’s popular messaging app, WhatsApp, is currently testing a much-requested feature: the ability to sign out without losing your data.

As reported by GSMArena, users of the latest WhatsApp beta for Android have discovered a new “Log Out” option under account settings. This feature offers two choices:

  1. Log out and delete data – similar to uninstalling the app, this option logs you out and erases all app data and preferences. However, you’ll still remain a member of your existing groups.
  2. Log out without deleting data – this lets you sign out while keeping all your chats, preferences, and group memberships intact. Everything will be available when you sign back in.

Once you log in again using your phone number, your account and data will be fully restored.Stay updated on Kuwait’s latest news and job openings by following our WhatsApp channel!https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaCkXo25q08jnKrRwo27

This feature is ideal for users who want to temporarily take a break from WhatsApp without permanently removing their data.

Currently, the sign-out option is labeled as “Internal,” meaning it’s still being tested internally by WhatsApp’s development team. The next steps are expected to include a wider beta rollout, followed by a stable release to all users.
