Criminal Gang Arrested in Hawalli and Salmiya for Drug Trafficking
The General Department of Narcotics Control has arrested a criminal gang operating in the Hawalli and Salmiya areas following surveillance and intelligence gathering, which confirmed their involvement in possessing narcotic and psychotropic substances for the purpose of trafficking. According to a statement from the Ministry of Interior’s General Department of Public Relations and Security Media, the operation led to the arrest of two Egyptian nationals. Additionally, the involvement of a Kuwaiti citizen was uncovered, though he was found to be out of the country. Investigations into his case are still ongoing.
The authorities seized approximately 30 kilograms of marijuana, 500 grams of crystal meth, 150 grams of opium, 50 grams of chemicals, 10 grams of heroin, five methadone pills, and three sensitive electronic scales from the suspects. Legal actions have been initiated, and the suspects have been referred to the relevant authorities for further action.
The Ministry of Interior reiterated its commitment to fighting all forms of drug trafficking and prosecuting those involved to ensure the safety and security of society. Investigations into the Kuwaiti suspect, currently abroad, are continuing.
