Traffic discipline across Kuwait has improved significantly, thanks to the Ministry of Interior’s awareness campaigns, the dedication of traffic officers, and the use of new-generation surveillance cameras. Within just five days, violations on the country’s roads dropped by more than half.
This sharp decline comes as authorities intensify enforcement measures, particularly issuing serious penalties that include vehicle impoundment for 60 days for offenses such as overtaking violations, obstructing traffic flow, or parking in prohibited areas. Between October 20 and 25, such violations decreased by approximately 55 percent.
A well-informed security source told Al-Rai that heightened driver awareness and commitment to traffic regulations have resulted in a clear decline in violations captured by new-generation cameras. On Saturday, October 25, 365 violations were recorded for overtaking and obstructing traffic on highways and intersections — a major improvement compared to 823 violations recorded on Monday, October 20. The source described this as “a true achievement for the traffic officers who apply the law with seriousness and without leniency.”
Meanwhile, traffic police launched a large-scale campaign targeting hospitals across various governorates. The operation resulted in 222 violations in a single day, ranging from obstructing traffic to parking in restricted areas. Two vehicles were impounded at Jaber Hospital for severe violations.
According to the source, “Traffic officers have impounded 222 vehicles, and fines will not be processed until the vehicles are released from the impoundment garage. These offenses will not be tolerated, as the law will be strictly applied to all violators.”
In the hospital campaign, Al-Adan Hospital topped the list with 80 violations, followed by Al-Jahra Hospital with 66, Al-Farwaniya Hospital with 22, Al-Amiri Hospital and the Al-Sabah Medical District with 17 each, and Jaber Hospital with nine violations. Two vehicles were also stopped for obstructing ambulance movement.
